This is a 515lb conventional four inch block pull performed with a mixed grip, and the first time I have tried this variation. Effective strength training involves addressing your weaknesses head on. Conventional deadlift variations are certainly a weakness of mine compared to sumo variations, where I can generally lift around 85lb more from the same block height or floor. My chief weak point is low back strength as indicated by this strength discrepancy and the mild lumbar flexion which occurred at the start of this lift. To keep increasing my maximal deadlift, I will ensure that I continue to focus on strengthening this weak point through direct low back training.
